Marne, MI — (April 18, 2015) — The first race of the year kicked off at Berlin Raceway and Entertainment Complex with temps in the mid 70’s and sunny skies. With packed grandstands and pits, The Icebreaker presented by the Grand Rapids Drive was anything but icy. Fans and race teams alike were happy to be back and conditions couldn’t have been better for a great night of racing.

The Enterprise Iron and Metal Sportsman once again returned with close and tight battles in both the heat races and the feature. After a tough start in the heat race for Gerry Shepard in the #13 finding the turn 1 wall, a strong field of cars started the feature with Weston Jewett once again proving anytime he (or his brother Garrison) are at Berlin they are a threat to win. Weston once again found the Great Clips Victory Lane!

The Kalamazoo Vapor 4-Cyl Division featured a hearty group of cars and the feature race did not let down any race fans. Some new faces and many familiar ones returned to Berlin Raceway for the first time this season. After some close action and lead changes, Tom Chase found his way to the Great Clips Victory Lane and grabbed the hardware for a great start to his season!

The Engine Pro Super Stocks were also part of the Icebreaker, with many big names returning to do battle. Seth Moody, the defending track champion was prepared to defend his championship, as well as helping his younger brother break into racing at Berlin. Some very close racing including a great battle up front between Moody and Brian Thome but when the checked flag flew from flagman Andrew Conklin, it was once again Moody in the Great Clips Victory Lane, picking up right where he left off.

The Budweiser Outlaw Late Models were in top from with 22 cars ready to do battle. Many Berlin veterans were in the field in addition to some familiar names and a few new drivers as well, setting up for a fantastic race in the Outlaw division. Andy Bozell set fast time in his new #16 ride for the first time ever at Berlin. Mike Root also had a very strong showing, leading a good portion of the event, eventually finishing 3rd. But Saturday night it was defending track champion Terry Senneker that carved his way through the field, getting past Scott Thomas, Mike Root and Andy Bozell to take the checkered flag, and like Seth Moody, picking up where he left off in 2014.
